An important aspect that you need to verify before buying a product from an online store is the SALES VOLUME (number of sales per month) on Amazon.
You want to be sure to select only products that are popular on Amazon otherwise you’ll just get a bunch of potentially profitable products… that nobody wants to buy.
Unfortunately Amazon doesn’t provide the exact number of sales per month of a given product.
But there is another way to get an estimate of how many units are sold on Amazon every month of a given product:
AMAZON BEST SELLER RANK (BSR)
Amazon BSR is a rank given to Amazon products based on the product’s orders compared to other products in the same category.
The Amazon Best Seller Rank is calculated based on the sales of a product. A product with a rank of #1 means it has recently sold more than any other product in that category.
The BSR of a product is different on each Amazon marketplace.
BSR is not a fixed value, but it’s constantly updated by Amazon using a secret algorithm based on several parameters.
According to Amazon, current BSR value is not a good estimator for sales.
This means that even if you make a purchase decision based on a very low BSR value, you might end up buying a product that was selling a lot only during a limited period of time.
That’s why you need to evaluate BSR TREND OVER TIME.
